Next i pulled into a provincial park. Was an interesting dam structure and waterfall/creek. Went for a few little walks in there.
I'd have taken a few more pics near the bottom of the waterfall but there was a family there with 2 naked kids. Felt like a creep with the camera out but managed to avoid them in all shots and quickly moved on!
On the highway again for a short time before i decided to explore a FSR. It was a bit of a let down. Was an hour and a half or so to reach the end. It was tight single lane, very bumpy and full of big diesel trucks hauling enormous fishing boats. Hopefully the fishing was worth the trip in for these guys, they crawled along at a painful pace and most were nice enough to let me pass when opportunity presented itself. Was kind of funny when i met a few of them on coming, i'd pull over to leave them enough room, then they'd back up to a safe spot where they could pull over to get out of my way instead. Was odd, happened at least 3 times. Wouldn't go back, unless someone was willing to show me why it was worth it in a boat!
On the way in (2 pics up) the road went down to a rocky beach area where i could've easily stayed out of the water but i went in a little for fun, a short time later on the way out the tide must have been coming in because there wasn't an option, had to drive through the water!
Back to the highway where eventually i saw people out on a huge sandy area fishing and enjoying the weather. Thought i'd have a little break and a quick snack there and be on my way. I snapped a few pics, ate some beef jerkey and then went to leave...
I started to turn around as i neared a pool to leave.
Not sure if i mentioned i had my front drive shaft disconnected for this entire trip so far. I tried forwards and backwards and was throwing rocks and a little mud into the interior untill finally i wasn't making ground either way. I bit the bullet and had to hook up my front shaft. Took maybe 10 mins, but seemed like a long time and i believe the water was a little closer to me than when i started as the tide was rising. I put it in 4 low and locked the rear and crawled out like it was nothing.
On my way out i watched this old fella haul in a fish. As usual the pictures don't do it justice, it was a nice size, in the 2nd pic here this not even fully off the ground and its up at his knee
I continued down the highway for 10 shaky minutes before i had to pull over and unhook my front driveshaft. Bad vibrations! It was separating at the slip yolk and has since been replaced. Did it at this spot under the bridge here.
I wanted to find somewhere to camp for the night and thought i'd best get to looking for a spot. I wasn't far from Terrace and went back into where Cory had taken me to see the waterfall a few days earlier. I explored for a while out the way and found another nice smaller scale water fall. I wanted to continue on this road but it came to a pretty hairy looking crossing/deactivation that if i had my front shaft connected i believe would've been no problem but i was losing light and had saw a place on the way in that looked like it would do.
Where i camped there were three bridges and i pulled over as far as i could on the small stretch of road in the middle of the bridges and camped on an island. Pretty good spot... Walking around the island there were odd drag marks in the sand and through the grass down on the far end. I didn't explore too much but would be interested to know what animal made it? I cooked hotdogs over the fire and had a few beer and a relatively early night.
