Was a little fuzzy when i woke up. Corey got the ball rollin and drove me to pick up the Jeep from the pub and get coffees. He knew of a nice drive off a forest service road to a waterfall that was on the way to Prince Rupert as I had to be there by noon for Dan's Wedding, the driving force behind this trip. Packed up, filled up and followed Corey in his newer civic. The turn off was about 30 mins out of town and maybe another 40 min drive out the service road. Corey parked his car at the entrance and he and megs (his dog) shared my front seat . There were lots of different roads out that way to explore, which i did a few days later on my back through. All in all the day was pretty sunny, but there was a little scare of cloud/fog.
Apparently someone was quading across the bottom of the falls and bailed and was pinned under his quad and the way the water flowed the couldn't get him out in time and he passed away. Then once rescue got there and removed the quad the body got away on them and it went down more falls and had to be retrieved further down stream. Sad and terrible story...
One more little climb in the Jeep and it had to be parked and we had to walk up for about 10 mins.
The waterfalls were amazing. Possibly the best i've seen in person. Was a great spot. We went in for a dip, dunked our heads and stayed for a few minutes then i had to start back as things were taking longer than anticipated and i had a wedding to be at by noon! I could've spent lots of time here, Corey says its better in the afternoon when the sun is hitting it as it was a bit chilly in the morning but worth it. Once you get close its hard to see anything due to all the spray. Was hard to leave so quickly...
It was hard to capture how amazing these falls were. Couldn't even get all the vertical fall in one picture. So had to get out of there in a hurry so i'd make it to the wedding in time. When we were back at the road it was nearly 11am. Parted ways with Corey, did my hair while it was still wet and pushed the Jeep to 110km's (or so) the rest of the way to Rupert. Many drive by pictures were taken as it is a very beautiful place. If my phone gave me the correct directions i'd have gotten there a minute or two before noon, however it sent me on a wild goose chase between one way streets that i couldn't access that were the wrong coordinates anyways. I quickly broke down and asked for directions, got changed behind the jeep infront of the church and went to rush in at about 12:10. I found myself waiting behind the bride to walk in and was told i could quickly run in first. Kind of a funny thing walking around the corner and seeing 20 camera's on me expecting a bride. I'm pretty sure someone got a good picture of my panic moment as i went the wrong way first then backtracked to find a seat on what looked to be the groom side. The wedding was nice as was the building.
Was good to see some old friends i haven't seen in a while. After the wedding we chatted outside for a bit then went to get a hotel with an ocean view, Brad suggested the one he was in and off we went. Unpacked the jeep and went to meet Brian Corrin (sp? its been a while.) for lunch at Breakers. We ate on the balcony over looking the harbor area, halibut and chips of course with a couple of Breakers lager to wash it down.
Had some time to kill before the reception at 5pm so it was back to the room for a nap! The reception was good, nice to catch up with old friends, it was difficult to hear a lot of the speeches over the mic. The beers and shots started flowing and we closed the place down and even had a few more back in my hotel room. Was a late night.

Trip to Terrace/Prince Rupert
On the morning of Thursday the 8th, Brad and i journeyed home from work in Foster Creek, Alberta. With dropping Brad's truck out at the Edmonton airport along the way the drive took about 13.5 hours. The next morning, Aug. 9 I had my jeep towed to the shop for axle ujoint replacement as i had broke the drivers side the day before i left for work, with the understanding that i would be able to get it back by noon. It was a little closer to 12:30pm but finally got it back with new ujoint tacked in place as my the ears on my axle were a little oval. Next time i'm in there hopefully won't be pressed for time and will be able to upgrade to chromoly shafts.
The whole drive is beautiful but it really pics up in the beauty department the closer you get to the coast.
I arrived in Terrace closer to 10pm i believe, when i asked Corey directions to his place, he gave me directions to a friends place a few blocks away from his house and had a beer waiting for me. We had a few then went to his place to unpack the Jeep and went out on the town, which happened to be karaoke night at the pub. Corey sung a few gems. Ended up walking back to his place.

So, after getting all packed up and getting the roof down and some last minute shopping. I got out of town just before 2pm to head to Terrace. First picture was a rest stop near Burns Lake. When i purchased my first Jeep out of Terrace and drove it back, i had taken a picture in the same spot. Had to do it with my newer Jeep.
The drive was great, i didn't rush but i didn't stop a lot as i didn't want to be driving in the dark as much as possible. Stopped in Smithers and picked up a subway sandwich to go and ate it at the first rest stop which had a view of Smithers glacier.
Next I stopped in Mauriceville (not spelled right, will come back and edit sometime) where the river flows through a tight rocky canyon. There were people netting fish out of the waterfall area. I bought some smoked salmon from a native lady selling it out of a shack there, it went straight into the cooler to be enjoyed later.
